CANADIAN FILM FEST UNVEILS MASTERCLASS AND INDUSTRY SERIES FEATURING KEY PLAYERS FROM THE CANADIAN FILM INDUSTRY

Vincenzo Natali, Craig David Wallace, Ingrid Veninger, Kristin Booth, Grace Lynn Kung and Kristian Bruun to participate in Masterclass

One of the key ways the Canadian Film Fest is able to provide an unbiased forum and excellent networking opportunities for Canadian filmmakers and others in the industry is through their Masterclass and Industry Workshop offerings held each year during the festival. These programs bring together actors, directors and key stakeholders in the Canadian film industry, offering an unprecedented opportunity for filmmakers to expand their knowledge. In this six-hour class, Award-winning DGC directors from different backgrounds and genres will work with the same scene and group of top-level talented ACTRA actors. Each director will break down the script, work with the actors to block and shoot the scene, and then collaborate with an editor on a pass of the scene. At the end of the class, each of the scenes will be run back-to-back, showing the impact of an individual director's point-of-view on the scene and story.

GENRE WRITING – HOW TO STAND OUT FROM THE CROWD

Genre films (horror, sci-fi thriller) can be cheap to produce, come with an already built-in audience and have the potential for big financial returns – which explains why they’re an appealing choice for emerging Canadian filmmakers. But, with so much competition – how can you write one that stands out from the crowd? The esteemed panel of experienced filmmakers will unpack genre writing from a variety of angles.
