Cineplex Events’ In The Gallery Series Remembers Anne Frank in #AnneFrank Parallel Stories, Narrated by Helen Mirren
Presented as part of the Fall/Winter series in honour of what would have been Anne Frank’s 90th birthday
Toronto, ON, (TSX: CGX) August 23, 2019 – Cineplex Events’ presents #Anne Frank Parallel Stories, coming to theatres across Canada beginning October 21 as part of the In The Gallery series. Produced by Nexo Digital in partnership with the Anne Frank Fonds foundation, this in depth documentary directed by prizewinning Italian TV journalists Sabina Fedeli and Anna Migotto, attempts to put together what the Jewish icon’s life would have been like in society today.
Narrated by Hellen Mirren and in remembrance of Anne Frank on what would have been her 90th birthday, #Anne Frank tells the story of the teen’s life through the pages of her diary: an extraordinary text that has made the tragedy of Nazism known to millions of readers all over the world, and how she would speak to us through social networks today. Anne’s story is intertwined with that of five Holocaust survivors, teenage girls just like her, with the same ideals, the same desire to live, the same courage: Arianna Szörenyi, Sarah Montard, Helga Weiss and sisters Andra and Tatiana Bucci.
This film takes place in a reconstructed set of Anne’s room from the secret refuge in Amsterdam. Off “the set” a young girl will take audiences to various significant places that Anne used to frequent during her short life. Notable places described in Anne’s own wording using social media include the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp in Germany where Anne and her sister Margot died as well as the Holocaust Memorial in Paris.
