Kiki’s Delivery Service Flies into Cineplex Theatres for its 30th Anniversary as Part of Studio Ghibli Fest
Toronto, ON, (TSX: CGX), March 26, 2019 – Cineplex Events’ Studio Ghibli Fest returns to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Kiki’s Delivery Service and all things anime with a line-up of visually stunning features from the legendary animation house. Beginning April 7 and screening until December, audiences can rediscover all of their favourite Studio Ghibli characters in 41 participating theatres across Canada. Each film in the line-up will screen in both an English dubbed version and in Japanese with English subtitles.

Howl's Moving Castle

 
An average teenage girl named Sophie finds her life thrown into turmoil when she is literally swept off her feet by a handsome but mysterious wizard named Howl. Soon after the chance meeting, a vain and conniving witch curses Sophie, turning her body into that of a 90-year-old woman and forcing her to embark on an incredible adventure to undo the spell.

Nausicaä of the Valley and the Wind
Set in a devastated future world decimated by atmospheric poisons and swarming with gigantic insects, Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind tells the story of a young princess determined to understand the processes of nature, no matter the costs.

Whisper of the Heart
During summer vacation, a schoolgirl named Shizuku, who longs to discover her true talents, observes an ordinary-looking cat riding by himself on the train. Intrigued, she decides to follow him, leading her on an exciting adventure far beyond the boundaries of her imagination.

Kiki's Delivery Service
From the legendary Hayao Miyazaki comes the beloved story of a resourceful young witch named Kiki who uses her broom to create a delivery service. When Kiki loses her gift of flight in a moment of self-doubt, she must find a new purpose to regain her powers.

My Neighbor Totoro
After moving with their father to a new house in the countryside, sisters Satsuki and Mei discover that the surrounding forests are home to a family of Totoro’s – gentle but powerful creatures who live in a huge and ancient camphor tree and are seen only by children.

The Secret World of Arrietty
Arrietty, a tiny but tenacious 14-year-old, lives with her parents in the recesses of a suburban garden home, unbeknownst to the homeowner and her housekeeper. When 12-year-old boy Shawn comes to stay in the home, he discovers his mysterious housemate and a secret friendship blossoms.

Spirited Away
Wandering through an abandoned carnival site, ten-year-old Chichiro is separated from her parents and stumbles into a dream-like spirit world where she is put to work in a bathhouse for the gods. Here she encounters a vast menagerie of characters and must find a way to outsmart her captors and return to her family.

Princess Mononoke
Set in the late Muromachi period of Japan, Princess Mononoke centers on the struggle between the supernatural guardians of the forest and the humans who consume its resources, as seen by the outsider Ashitaka.

The Tale of the Princess Kaguya
Kaguya, a tiny nymph found inside a bamboo stalk, grows into a beautiful and desirable young woman. When suitors begin to court her, she orders that they prove their love by completing a series of near-impossible tasks.
