CBC and Hulu Original Series Endlings Premieres January 5 on CBC and CBC Gem

Toronto, ON - December 23, 2019 - Endlings, produced by Sinking Ship Entertainment in partnership with CBC and Hulu, is an epic sci-fi adventure series about four foster kids who come together to save fantastical creatures from across the galaxy who are alone in the universe - just like them. Created by Emmy® Award-winning executive producer and director J.J. Johnson (Dino Dana, Odd Squad), Endlings is set to premiere on CBC and the free CBC Gem streaming service on Sunday, January 5 at 6 PM (6:30 NT) with weekly back-to-back episodes, and episodes available to stream on-demand via CBC Gem following their broadcast. All 12 episodes drop on Hulu on Friday, January 17.

Inspired by the WWF Living Planet Report and starring Kamaia Fairburn (Holly Hobbie), Michela Luci (Dino Dana The Movie), Cale Thomas Ferrin (More Beautiful for Having Been Broken), Edison Grant (Forget Me Not), and Oyin Oladejo (Star Trek: Discovery)Endlings aims to inspire young people to consider their own impact on the world around them and effect change.

Set 20 years in the future, Endlings is the empowering story of four kids in foster care who discover they’re not alone in the universe, even though sometimes it can feel like they are. Halfway across the world, following the death of her mate, Tuko becomes the last elephant in existence—what biologists call an endling. Her endling status summons to Earth a mysterious Alien who is on an intergalactic quest to save the last member of near-extinct species. After Tuko is collected, the Alien's ship malfunctions and sends it on a crash course with the farm where Julia (Fairburn), Johnny (Grant), Tabby (Luci), and Finn (Ferrin) live with their foster dad, Mr. Leopold (Neil Crone, Little Mosque on the Prairie). Before crashing, the Alien releases all of its cosmic collection into the fields and wilderness surrounding the property. This kicks off a high-action life-altering mission to retrieve these fantastical creatures before the local police, Tuko's caretaker (Oladejo), or a secretive industrialist (Lisa Ryder, Gene Roddenberry’s Andromeda) can. Along the way, four discarded teens discover that "endling" doesn't have to mean the end; it can also mean a new beginning.
