GOVERNMENT OF CANADA ANNOUNCES $9.5 MILLION COMMITMENT TO SESQUI AS PART OF CANADA 150

The Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Canadian Heritage today announced a $9.5 million commitment to support SESQUI at a press conference in Montreal. SESQUI Executives presented Minister Joly, with a first look at the SESQUI experience.  SESQUI is an official pan-Canadian Canada 150 Signature Initiative and today’s presentation represented the next step in SESQUI’s vision towards enhancing Canada’s creative culture through visual arts and innovation.  

SESQUI Executive Producer Andrea Stewart and Technical Producer & Dome Designer Guy St-Amour revealed a maquette of the customized immersive dome experience being designed in collaboration with Roger Parent and his team at Réalisations Inc. Montreal, www.realisations.net. This experience will bring cutting edge interactivity and a 360° film to communities across Canada in celebration of the country’s 150th in 2017. Award-winning, Canadian director Drew Lightfoot will direct the 360° film which  began shooting this month in Ontario.   

Also present at the press conference were SESQUI Executive Producers Joanne Loton and Heather Sinclair.

“The 150th anniversary of Confederation marks an important step for Canada. This is a wonderful opportunity to acknowledge our diversity,” said  Mélanie Joly, Minister of Canadian Heritage. “The SESQUI cultural tour will highlight our country’s treasures and bring together Canadians from coast to coast to coast. In 2017, I invite people to take part in this interactive experience that will push the limits of digital innovation. Let’s take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to celebrate our past, our present and our future.”
