Jingle All The Way with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra's Festive December Programming

Toronto, ON—November 22, 2019—The Toronto Symphony Orchestra (TSO) is rockin’ around Roy Thomson Hall, spreading joy through the sounds of the season. TSO RBC Resident Conductor Simon Rivard will make his full-concert Masterworks Series début conducting the Orchestra in All Tchaikovsky, featuring acclaimed teen violinist Daniel Lozakovich. Continuing the December lineup, the TSO will offer audiences an opportunity to experience one of their favourite holiday movies, Home Alone, like never before, with the story brought to life through a live performance of the score conducted by Constantine Kitsopoulos. Also, TSO Principal Pops Conductor Steven Reineke will return for TSO Holiday Pops, a concert overflowing with holiday cheer, where international vocal sensation Measha Brueggergosman shares the stage with the Etobicoke School of the Arts Holiday Chorus. The seasonal concerts conclude with Handel’s Messiah, an unmissable holiday tradition, featuring a brilliant, all-Canadian cast including Jane Archibald, Emily D’Angelo, Isaiah Bell, Russell Braun, and the Toronto Mendelssohn Choir, under the direction of Alexander Shelley, Music Director of the National Arts Centre Orchestra.

Start your holidays with a BOOM! The TSO’s annual all-Tchaikovsky concert features the resounding 1812 Overture—which is sure to blow the roof off Roy Thomson Hall—the too-rarely encountered Symphony No. 1 “Winter Dreams”, and teenage superstar Daniel Lozakovich performing the Violin Concerto.

On December 1, audiences can hear the pre-concert performance by the TSO Chamber Soloists at 1:45pm. Curated by the TSO Concertmaster, Jonathan Crow, the group will perform Arensky's String Quartet No. 2.

HOME ALONE IN CONCERT (DECEMBER 6 & 7)

Experience the festive family film with live orchestra. Macaulay Culkin stars as Kevin McCallister, a precocious eight-year-old who protects his house from a pair of bungling thieves when he is left home alone during Christmas vacation. With a host of madcap moments and an unforgettable score by the legendary John Williams, this special presentation of the modern seasonal classic is the perfect way to kick off your holidays.

*Please note there are no media tickets available for this sold-out concert.

TSO HOLIDAY POPS (DECEMBER 10, 11 & 12)

It's truly the most wonderful time of the year!
