TORONTO, ONT. — In celebration of Earth Day, Arcadia Earth Toronto today unveils “Mushroom Music”, a new immersive room created in collaboration with Canadian artist, Modern Biology. Blending art, science, and sound, the experience invites guests to interact with living mushrooms and create music with them in real time.

Through a series of interactive stations, guests place their hands on touchpads to connect with living fungi. Natural electrical signals from both the human body and the mushrooms are translated into evolving notes and rhythms in real time creating a one-of-a-kind soundscape with every interaction - a rare opportunity to create music with living organisms.

Surrounded by immersive, wall-to-wall projections and rare microscopic footage, visitors are transported underground to explore the vast networks of fungi that move nutrients through soil and support ecosystems worldwide. The experience culminates in a broader reflection on mushrooms as a vital kingdom, encouraging guests to reconsider their relationship with these small but powerful organisms.

No two visits are the same. Each interaction generates a unique composition, positioning guests not as passive observers, but as active participants within a living breathing system.

“We chose to launch this installation on Earth Day to highlight the powerful reminder of our deep interconnection between humans and nature,” said President of Arcadia Earth, Craig Perlmutter. “This experience aims to spark curiosity and inspire visitors to take everyday action in protecting and restoring the planet.”

About Modern Biology
Modern Biology is the ambient sound and performance project of Vancouver?based artist and producer Tarun Nayar. Originally educated as a biologist and trained in music, Nayar combines his passions by converting bioelectrical signals from plants, fungi and the Earth itself into evolving sonic landscapes using modular synthesis, custom instruments and analog equipment.
